Mark Henry – The World’s Strongest Man
Mark Henry sits down to chat to the Australia media in the lead up to Wrestlemania 33.
Self-proclaimed World’s strongest man Henry is a veteran of 20 years in the world of Wrestling Entertainment. Henry started in The WWF at the age of 24 where he press slammed Jerry Lawler after he ridiculed him during an interview.
Standing at 6’4″ and weighing 160kg Henry is a force to be reckoned with. He is a man who takes pride in delivering the best and being the best. He gets his adrenalin from the cheers from the crowd he loves, and what he does. He shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
“I’m a fan, I will always be a fan. The WWE juggernaut is the biggest sports spectacular in the world. I”ll be watching this when I am 80 years old”.
” “I’m proud of being an entertainer” as was clearly evident in 2013… when Henry created a story line announcing his retirement with a lot of fans expressing disappointment. Instead Henry hatched a plan to attack John Cena leading to a dramatic rivalry.
Throughout his time in his amazing 20 year career, his feud with the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 22 is the most memorable. “Although I didn’t win, I performed at the highest level”
“We want the fans to understand that we are there for them. We do what we do for them”.
Henry has also been working with up and coming talent at the WWE Performance Centre based in Orlando. Henry derives pleasure in assisting new talent coming through the ranks, assisting with their style, moves and persona’s.
With all the new talent coming through the ranks with NXT Henry expressed his admiration for one wrestler in particular, “Braun Strowman has my respect, he is as strong a guy as there has been in the business since my younger days. I’m excited to see what he can do in the future”
Not a fan of Kevin Owen’s, Henry expressed animosity towards the fellow wrestler “he has carved out a place for himself. He is selfish; he thinks the sun rises and sets because he wakes up in the morning.
Henry also shared his admiration for Australia and the Australian fans as his best friend Adelaide 36’ coach Joey Wright Lives in OZ. “I love the food, I love the culture. I love all cultures being from Texas, we love BBQ and Australian’s know a little thing or to about BBQ’s.
Although Henry will not be competing in the main match at Wrestlemania 33 he will be there supporting the company at what they do best.. Entertaining!!
